Round 2 of Oobleck on Tuesday was a success!! The students had such a blast playing with Oobleck and figuring out how to make it more liquidy once it turned more "solidly".
In Math on Tuesday, I broke a school rule- I wrote on the floor with a whiteboard marker! The students were so concerned that I would get in trouble!
On the floor I drew a human sized number line. We then used it to show how we use a number to subtract. I had one student start on a high number, had another on a lower number and then had a student be the "hopper"- they would show how many hops it takes us to get from the lower number to the higher number! This really reinforced number lines for some students.
Today we went back in time it seemed! We had the grade 1's join us for most of the day today! I think it made the students appreciate how quiet our class is now (I know I did!:)).
Today we read Aaron's Hair by Robert Munsch! After we read the story we discussed the problem and solution.
The problem- Aaron's hair ran away on him because he hurt its feelings!
The solution- Aaron said he missed his hair and his hair came running back!
Once we finished, the students recreated Aaron and his hair, with the problem and solution on the combs.
Don't forget Beach Day tomorrow! We can all pretend that we are somewhere hot instead of here!
