Today we worked on our printing for parent teacher interviews. I told everyone to print their absolute best because their moms and dads would see it.
What a chaotic day! It doesn't look like it with my small blog, but it sure was! I hope everyone made it home safe and sound! Today we worked on our printing for parent teacher interviews. I told everyone to print their absolute best because their moms and dads would see it. During ELA we used our schema to see what we all knew about turkeys. After that, we read about turkeys. We then talked about animals that are omnivores, herbivores and carnivores. In math we worked on our subtraction story problems. After lunch we worked on our sight word books. When we were done that, we spent time rotating through our daily 3- word work, read to self and work on writing. This was our first full cycle through, and it went great! Interviews are next week, if you know of a time that would work best for you, please put it in your child's agenda. Here is what I have so far. Night one is last names to M and night 2 is the rest. Have a great night!

Today was our 50th day today!! Halfway to 100! In honour of our 50th day, I had some activities planned. Before we could do that though, we had to work. We worked on some writing that had us talking about what we will be or have in 50 years. There were some clever ideas! We worked on printing a lower case "k" today. In honor of our 50th day, we had some 50 second challenges to attempt! We had how many bubbles can you blow, hula hoop, bunny hop and more. We attempted math, but our challenges took us too long! Monday we will be working on subtraction story problems. During science we talked about how activities are different during the day and at night. We reached 13 minutes for read to self time today! Our day ended with iPad time. I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!
If anyone happens to have a Christmas tree cookie cutter, that they wouldn't mind lending out, please let me know!:) We just finished our 49th day of grade 1, which means tomorrow is our 50th day! Pretty exciting!! Today during our printing time, we practiced a lowercase "l" and then practiced writing sentences. We retold our story, Turkey Trouble, today in ELA. We retold it as a class, then re read the story, and then students had to retell it again on their own. During math I worked with a small group who needed some extra help with subtracting strategies. The rest of the class spent time playing a subtraction game. We started our unit on Hygiene today in Health. We talked about what hygiene means and dental hygiene, we talked about what a dental checkup looks like, and then we talked about how we keep good hygiene. Have a great night!
This morning the students had to start their day by correcting my morning message! I, again, was so tired I made so many mistake! After our message, we worked on our sight word books. We talked about a new story today. Before we read it, we wrote down some questions we may have about the story, such as where would it take place? When does it take place? Instead of using paper, we used our desks to write these ideas on! In math we played a game today with a partner and then worked independently. Tomorrow I will have some play a game while I work with a smaller group, just to help give them that boost! During science we talked about the sun and it's two main jobs- to give us light and to keep us warm. Please remember that the weather is finally cooling down, so we need to start dressing warmer for it! Students will be outside, and we don't want them sick!:)
Have a great night! I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend! I sure did! I can't believe November is half over! Almost time to start practicing for our Christmas Concert! Today during our printing time, we worked on printing rhyming words. We have to remember to always take our time and be neat- it's not a contest! Today we started our sight word books. I have two groups going on, so that everyone can succeed and feel good! My one group reads the poem (with me) and then they draw a picture to show me what it is about (comprehension) and then we think of a sentence together that has our sight word in it. My they group had different activists such as finding their sight word, cutting and sorting and glueing, simple sentences, and printing. I am hoping these will help us with the words we have covered so far. We will, at some point, do these as well as words of the week together again. In math we started working with subtraction today. We started with partners and then went off on our own. We were taking away 1 and 2 today. During social we were comparing our school to other schools around the world and Saskatchewan. I showed the students the first school I taught at, which was an old 2 story school with a tunnel that led to the basement (they all thought it was pretty cool!) and I showed them my internship school, which was in England. We talked about how our school was the same and different. We then used a list to help us, and we added some of our own. Tomorrow is Jersey Day and the SCC Dance from 6-8pm!
Have a great night! |
