I apologize again for not posting Friday- but I got busy! So here we go!
Friday-
Our morning started with some folder time with the students rotating through different activities.
My reading group read "The Book" that discussed the different parts of a book.
In Math we played Bingo! We played a couple games where I said just the number and some where I wrote just the word.
In Science we made our title pages for our new unit on Seasons and Changes. We then talked about the days of the week.
We ended our day with a new word family- the "ad" family.
Monday-
Today we started with a sight word poem with the word "said". We talked about how 2 vowels go walking, the first one does the talking. That helped them out when it came to sounding the words out.
I am finally hearing their sight word books again- I took a break to do some other assessing for report cards so my apologies!
My reading group read about Chickens today! We read about the parts of a chicken and then started our comprehension sheets. Please make sure you check your child's bag, as most groups have homework.
In Math we talked about grouping objects to help us count. We grouped by 5's and 10's. It also helped us with our skip counting!
In Social we "flew" to Mexico City! We landed to the sounds of Feliz Navidad playing. We heard "The Legend of the Poinsetta" today and then created a Poinsetta for our scrapbook. We then broke open our piñata that Hayley and her mom made- thanks again so much!
We read "Snowmen at Night" today. We then began writing about what we think snowmen do at night. Some students took ideas from the story, and some thought of their own- such as they high 5!
We will finish the writing tomorrow and then create our snowman at night!
Tomorrow is December 1st! I will be sending home our Christmas song to practice soon!
Mark this down- the 18th is PJ day!
Have a good night!
